Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. The actress is an actor, singer and dancer. She started her Broadway career in musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. Her performance in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Ashford will return to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The same team that created Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at the control of the production. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the national crisis that swept up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment hearings in over one century. Her two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive was her first big part. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. The actress has also performed on Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original character of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for the Tony Award. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford is now dividing her time between Los Angeles and New York.
